This is a revamped student project from my time at NIU. I chose to focus on Japanese calligraphy (書道, shodō) to challenge myself by stepping beyond the familiar confines of the Latin alphabet. I aimed to not only appreciate the elegance of this art form but also to expand my typographic skills and understanding. This endeavor provided a unique opportunity to blend historical tradition with personal growth, pushing the boundaries of my creative expression and typographic versatility.
